Alex Alburquenque (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and counsellor with over 10 years of combined education and experience, including 5 years of direct practice in the field of social work. She brings a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered approach to therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is Alex’s primary modality, and she is passionate about using it to help clients process past experiences, foster self-compassion, and reconnect with their sense of self-worth and belonging. She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which support her work in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, stress, and emotional regulation.
Alex is passionate about creating affirming spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent clients, drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience as a queer, neurodivergent clinician. This perspective informs her deep commitment to honoring each client’s unique story, pace, and needs in the healing process.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys life with her wife and their two beloved cats. She finds joy and grounding in time spent by the ocean, paddleboarding, playing videogames, and exploring creativity through art.
